EHS Coordinator ahh

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Continual Improvement (25%)

a. Use OSHA and company measures to track incidents and take appropriate action to improve the measures.

b. Ownership of key safety improvement efforts as assigned; may be individual efforts, leading small teams, or participating as a team member on complex problems while meeting timelines.

c. Provide EHS support to site project work.

d. Improve environmental performance

e. Lead plant safety meetings and monitor established action items

f. Review all EHS incident investigation reports and assist in investigations as needed.

g. Ensure adherence to all relevant legal rules, regulations and procedures

h. Encourage and promote the use of safer work equipment, materials and supplies

i. Communicate best practices between facilities

j. Keep abreast of industry and market trends and best practices

2. Training (15%)

a. Prepare, schedule and perform (where competent) training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, environmental and other relevant topics

b. Coordinate evacuation, shelter in place, spill and other required drills

c. Consult with all departments to provide expertise and ensure compliance with standards, processes and permits.

3. Reporting (10%)

a. Update database with environmental and safety data on a monthly basis

b. Maintain company safety and OSHA measures

c. Report to OSHA and other relevant organizations as required

d. Coordinate annual ecobalance reporting between the facilities and Jona

4. Outside Resources (10%)

a. Coordinate external audits with environmental consultants and OSHA consultations per schedule and take actions to remedy findings

b. Support ISO registrar and internal audits

c. Coordinate required external equipment inspections

d. Inspect and/or coordinate inspections of: emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, AED’s and MKE fire doors.

5. Document Creation (15%)

a. Develops and establishes safety expertise including safe systems development including job safety analysis, risk assessment, machine safeguarding, ergonomics, industrial hygiene.

b. Develop risk assessment and keep them current.

c. Develop operational instructions related to Safety Data Sheets to ensure employees understand proper method of use

d. Develop Lock Out / Tag Out procedures

e. Develop needed plans and programs.

f. Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.

6. Document Reviews (15%)

a. Review revisions to regulations and determine impact on Chicago Faucets and recommend appropriate actions

b. Review and recommend changes to established plans per Legal Compliance Calendar schedule

c. Review Safety Data Sheets per schedule to ensure the most recent versions are in the system

d. Ensure the company is prepared to submit all the relevant environmental, health and safety documents.

7. All other duties as assigned (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required:

• 3+ years of environmental or health & safety experience in a manufacturing environment.

• 3+ years of Microsoft office experience.

Preferred:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety

• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Possesses ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  

• Ability required writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  

• Ability to write routine reports.  

• Ability to communicate with co-workers.  

• Ability to check the accuracy of reports, forms, records and comparable data, where required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Uses higher level math skills associated with geometric shapes and not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers, including decimals and fractions.  

• Knowledge of statistics.  

• Complex use of formulas, charts, tables, drawing specifications, schedules.

• Ability to check for accuracy of reports, forms, records and comparable data where interpretation is required.

REASONING ABILITIES

• Uses deductive reasoning to eliminate non-feasible designs without using resources that can be better utilized.  

• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• OSHA 30 Hour card preferred

• ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will be required to traverse through a manufacturing environment.  Must be able to be in a stationary position for up to 75% of the time.  Must be able to use a keyboard.  The employee will be required to communicate and converse with other employees.  Must be able to identify and detect potential hazards in the workplace.  Occasionally transports office binders, files, boxes, parts weighing up to 20 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level within the office is minimal.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Will be required to sometimes work on the factory floor where hearing, foot and vision protection may be necessary.  This position requires up to 30% travel to various worksites, in an automobile or common carrier.
