Field Service Tech ajc
Responsibilities:
In order to support the dynamic growth of its U.S. business, currently looking for a service technician for the following tasks:
- Service interventions: Organization, execution and follow up of service interventions as a team leader at customer sites in North America and Canada
- Installations: Support equipment installations at customer sites in North America (as part of an international team of technicians/experts).
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose mechanical malfunctions, breakdowns, and irregularities in cheese production machinery. Develop effective solutions and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
- Emergency Support: Respond to emergency service calls promptly, efficiently addressing urgent equipment issues to minimize production losses and maintain seamless operations.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and equipment performance. Update equipment manuals and document standard operating procedures as needed.
- Technical Training: Assist in training production staff on basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting procedures to enhance their understanding of machinery and improve overall efficiency.
- Consult & Support: Support customers in the development of maintenance programs and the purchase of spare parts
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and equipment upgrades, contributing insights to enhance the overall cheese production process.
- Travel: Prepared to travel nationwide and sometimes internationally. (Passport required) Must be able to travel more than 65% of the time.
Candidate profile:
Offering:
- Education: A technical college diploma or equivalent along with 3+ year’s-experience. 5+ years of related experience and proven performance in mechanical service interventions may be acceptable in lieu of a degree.
- Experience: Strong mechanical and basic electrical experience working in capital equipment industry (food-, chemical-, pharmaceutical-, packaging, industrial automatization- or similar industry).
- Safety awareness: Industrial safety training OSHA 10 or 40 preferred. Awareness of potential and possible hazards in handling tools and environmental circumstances.
- Mechanical Proficiency: Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery. Familiarity with PLCs and automation systems is a plus.
- Food Safety Awareness: Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, particularly those related to dairy processing equipment and hygiene practices.
- Technical comprehension: Ability to understand mechanical design drawings as well as blueprints of complex production lines including layouts, pneumatic + electrical plans and P&IDs.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex mechanical issues, troubleshoot problems systematically, and implement effective solutions under time constraints.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide clear instructions, and document maintenance activities accurately.
- Physical Stamina: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various production environments. (Capability of lifting 15 pounds while standing, bent 45deg at the waist. Capability of lifting up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis. Two or more employees complete lifts of greater than 75 pounds.)
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional overtime, to accommodate production schedules and equipment needs.
- Driving License: Valid driver's license and clean driving record for on-site service visits and emergency support.
- Computer Proficiency: Ability to use software like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for creating reports, data collection, and presentations. Proficiency in using email platforms for effective communication, sending reports, and responding to inquiries. Recording and tracking expenses related to service activities and travel.
- Motivation: Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, honest, and thorough. A versatile, self-starter with a positive attitude plus capable and willing to lead a team on site. Ability to positively motivate individuals and teams to meet or exceed project expectations.

I would say we typically see 60-75% travel. I am really just looking for a quality candidate. So if they have just started a family and need to be home more, then I would like to think we can still work something out.
