Job Description:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for overseeing the installation, start-up, service, and repair of vertical reciprocating conveyor (VRC) equipment. This role requires strong technical skills in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, along with excellent customer service abilities. The technician will travel extensively to customer sites, providing both on-site and phone support, ensuring compliance with company policies and customer requirements while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Responsibilities:
• Travel to customer locations to oversee and assist with installation, start-up, and service processes of VRC equipment.
• Provide phone support to customers for installation, start-up, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of VRC equipment.
• Communicate installation and service information clearly and professionally to ensure compliance with company procedures.
• Ensure all safety rules are followed during installation and service processes.
• Perform post-project analysis and provide feedback to relevant departments regarding equipment performance and customer concerns.
• Follow company procedures to ensure consistency and organization in service processes.
• Alert Product Support Manager of any concerns and assist in resolution as directed.
• Perform customer follow-up to monitor project satisfaction and ensure customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Education equivalent to an Associate Degree in Electronic, Hydraulic, or Mechanical Technology or a related discipline
At least 5 years of work experience in a Field Service Technician role, preferably in heavy equipment or material handling
Ability to travel 70-80% of work time
Valid driver license in good standing
Excellent customer service skills for in-person and telephonic interactions
Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact in communications
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to implement practical solutions
Strong communication skills to relay information professionally to all levels of management and customers
Ability to read manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics
Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
3+ years of experience in Allen-Bradley Micrologix installation and troubleshooting
Ability to learn and develop proficiency in M2K ERP software
Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail
Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under pressure
