Field Service Technician ajc
This is a smaller but growing company – 22 total employees and 5 other field service techs. The recently moved from 18,000 to a 60,000sq ft location.
Would like someone with experience in the printing/packaging industry
This position is a lot of travel throughout the country – plane and vehicle - about 2-3 weeks out if the month. M-F and home on the weekends.
A typical install takes about 1-3 weeks, most of them are 1 week. They will be working with someone when they start with training but then will be working independently for most of the time.
All their service techs make well over $100K a year. They are paid hourly and get lots of overtime on the road. They also receive $100 DAILY bonus when traveling and that does not include their per diem.
They are also given a company credit card to use when scheduling all fights, hotels, car rentals, meals, etc. All the techs are responsible for their travel arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Travel to customer sites to install and train operators on cutting-edge machinery.
· Provide technical solutions and hands-on support to ensure optimal machine performance.
· Showcase machinery capabilities through hands-on operation and detailed explanations for customers visiting our showroom.
· Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues and repair existing machinery to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency
· Collaborate with customers to maintain positive relationships while delivering exceptional service.
· Communicate with the installation team to ensure seamless execution.
· Create accurate service reports and support the Service Manager with pre/post installation meetings/audits with the customer
Qualifications:
· 5+ years of operating or 2+ years of direct maintenance experience with machinery like Die Cutters, Blankers, Folder Gluers, Foil Stampers, Saddle Stitchers, Guillotine Paper Cutters, Pile Turners, Film Laminators, Perfect Binders, and more.
· Electrical knowledge or certifications are highly desirable. While experience with Graphic Arts machinery is preferred, we value candidates with a strong foundation in electrical systems who are eager to learn and grow in this field.
· Strong mechanical background

· Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external parties
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Collaborate well with others, proactively contributing to group objectives; volunteer to help others.
· Physically capable of lifting up to 60 lbs. and performing hands-on tasks.
· Valid driver’s license.
