Industrial Sewer - 1st and 2nd shift jnf
Select proper parts for production operations. Check parts against work order to insure proper type,
color, and number of parts. Measure parts to verify correct dimensions. Notify Team Leader of
discrepancies relating to part dimensions, material shortages, layout issues, or required equipment
maintenance.
Carry parts to sewing machine and layout parts consistent with guide marks and operating experience.
Place parts in proper location and direction. Operate sewing machine to attach parts such as logo,
pleats, pockets, wear faces, drop curtains, windows, velcro, foam, guide strips, etc…. Change threads
and bobbins and adjust tension to produce proper stitching. Assist other sewers in handling and
sewing heavy weight fabrics.
Perform closing operations such as inserting fiberglass stays. Operate grommet machine to insert
grommet into materials.
Place finished orders in proper storage rack location and mark schedule on job card. Perform minor
sewing machine maintenance, such as cleaning out bottom tray and bobbin area, adding oil, replacing
needles, and placing machine back into time.
Set band saw stops to cut required length fiberglass stays. Operate punching machine to punch holes,
changing punch as needed to accommodate different hole sizes. Operate a heat-sealing machine to
repair material holes.
Select proper strip size and color, pleats, etc… from stock.
Follow all safety and work rules and maintain workplace order and cleanliness.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management or Team Leader.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the
knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Requires ability to read and understand sewing related written instructions.
Requires six to twelve months experience in sewing operations.
Requires the ability to function as a team member and contribute to group goals.
Requires the ability to operate an industrial sewing machine and grommet machine. Requires the
ability to operate a variety of hand tools such as a tin snips, glue gun, vice grips, and utility knife.
