Maintenance Tech - 1st Shift jml

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1.      Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure the maximum up-time of production activities.

2.      Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties; make repairs or adjustments as needed.

3.      Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining or replacement of purchased parts.

4.      Perform various activities related to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment to involve dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting and aligning operations.

5.      Perform maintenance on the building, facilities, and the grounds.

6.      Assist the team in determining the nature and scope of projects and the requirements for completion.

7.      Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and machinery.

8.      Perform preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning units.

9.      Maintain required maintenance logs and files.

10. Submit requests for additional parts and service.

11. Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures.

12. Comply with all quality, safety and sanitation regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/Or Experience

Requires one to three years of trades training and three to five years of progressively responsible related experience or eight to ten years of progressively responsible related experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, schematics, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively one-on-one with customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Qualifications

Requires the ability to operate various hand and power tools.  Requires a broad knowledge of tooling, maintenance procedures and general maintenance practices.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach about shoulders; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, usually waist high.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, risk of electric shock and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, occasionally very loud.
