Manager Quality Assurance ajc

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Drive Continuous Improvement (25%)

a. Work directly with Production employees to drive the Continuous Improvement Process in the facility.

b. Evaluate: systems, product data and current technologies to drive improvement.

c. Maintain corrective action system.

d. Facilitate problem solving activities.

e. Develop and implement quality procedures and standards to improve process capability.

f. Generate required reports to allow for the review of performance and the determination of needed actions.

2. Product Quality (25%)

a. Assist in diagnosing manufacturing/quality problems and establishing corrective action.

b. Participate with product engineers in advanced quality planning for new product development and projects in areas relevant to quality standards, procedures, and processes.

c. Conduct quality training for Production employees responsible for product quality.

d. Direct quality assurance program and ensure quality problems are identified and resolved.

e. Apply statistical methods to estimate manufacturing quality requirements and eliminate potential problems.

f. Reduce Cost of Quality and PPM to Michigan City metrics.

3. Departmental Management (20%)

a. Has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay-off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, and discipline employees as needed.

b. Establish departmental objectives and evaluate employee performance regularly at least once a year.

c. Ensure hourly employees are working in a safe, efficiently, and effective manner.

d. Participate in the Management Review process to evaluate the performance of EQMS.

4. Quality Planning (10%)

a. Lead the Quality Planning activities. Develop methods for inspection, testing and sampling.

b. Complete PAP submissions

5. ISO (10%)

a. Maintain the following of the QEHS system.

b. Make recommendations for the QEHS system.

6. All other duties as assigned (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required:

· Bachelor’s Degree from a College or University.

· 3+ years of Microsoft office experience.

· 5+ years of quality management in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred:

· A Bachelor’s Degree in Quality or Engineering

LANGUAGE SKILLS

· Possesses ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

· Ability required writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

· Ability to write routine reports.

· Ability to communicate with co-workers.

· Ability to check the accuracy of reports, forms, records and comparable data, where required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

· Uses higher level math skills associated with geometric shapes and not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of numbers, including decimals and fractions.

· Knowledge of statistics.

· Complex use of formulas, charts, tables, drawing specifications, schedules.

· Ability to check for accuracy of reports, forms, records, and comparable data where interpretation is required.

REASONING ABILITIES

· Uses deductive reasoning to eliminate non-feasible designs without using resources that can be better utilized.

· A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

· ASQ Certifications (CMQ/OE, CQE, CQA) preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will be required to traverse through a manufacturing environment. Must be able to be in a stationary position 75% of the time. Must be able to use a keyboard and inspection equipment. Must also be able to detect and identify small details on product. The employee will be required to communicate and converse with other employees. Must be able to identify and detect potential hazards in the workplace. Occasionally transports office binders, files, boxes, parts weighing up to 20 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level within the office is minimal. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Will be required to sometimes work on the factory floor where hearing, foot and vision protection may be necessary. This position requires up to 10% travel to various worksites, in an automobile or common carrier.
