Set up Tech - 1st Shift ahh

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of all set-up procedures and all molding machine and secondary operation functions.

• Safely and efficiently operate a sit-down forklift.

• Set-up, starts and troubleshoots presses using established process control methods.

• Uses computer to print work instructions and other job related documentation.

• Monitor press cycle to ensure presses are running to standards.

• Observe machine operations to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.

• Assist Operators when they encounter issues in the running machinery.

• Modify existing robot programs to handle parts without causing damage to the equipment or parts.

• Program machines for operators; creating new programs as needed.

• Ensure machines are running at peak efficiency, rate and quality throughout the shift

• Clean, inspect and maintain injection mold and machine as required

• Work as part of a team to minimize downtime and increase production.

• Perform periodic inspection rounds when needed.

• Actively participate in team meetings, think sessions, and process improvement meetings designed to create a better work process.

• Assist lead person with training of new personnel on proper job procedures, quality requirements and safety procedures

• All other duties as requested.

Education and/or Experience

• Two-year technical degree/tech certification in related field or 4 years of related experience.

• Experience with plastics injection molding required.

• Experience in working with drawings, part lists, engineering orders, diagrams, schematics and shop orders is required.

• Electrical experience preferred for basic maintenance of machinery.

• Must be safety conscience, a team player and a self-starter.

• Must have strong mechanical and math skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively with shift personnel.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.

• Ability to communicate effectively among shift personnel as well as to the other shifts.

• Ability to utilize a computer for accessing reports, email and general data entry.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent

Physical Demands

• Light to moderate physical activity.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis and 25 lbs on a regular basis.
