Definition: “Trade Compliance Program” is a series of programs (includes, but not limited to Export Compliance Program, Import Compliance Program, ITAR program) and policies that govern and define Trade Compliance operations and impact other business functions for the purpose of conducting business in compliance with the U.S. laws and regulations. This position will/must be trained to know and support day-to-day TC operations (classification, licensing, order review etc.) to understand the systems, metrics, and overall work scope to be able to successfully evaluate, build, implement, and enforce our companies Trade Compliance Program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Developing and supporting Trade Compliance Program includes:
- Creating and conducting TC training and educational sessions (annual and on-demand) for various business functions.
- Creating strong audit program with timelines and schedules that will include:
- Conducting internal and external audits to identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions and solutions.
- *Internal audit” means auditing Trade Compliance and Logistics operations.
- “External audit” means auditing other business functions’ processes to assure compliance with policies and procedures outlined in the Trade Compliance program.
- External audit will also include auditing 3rd parties service providers (freight forwarders, brokers, etc.
- Creating audit metrics, reports, projections such as Gap Matrix and Remedy plans.
- Supporting Director of Trade Compliance and Logistics in various cross-functional project development and kick off venues to represent Trade Compliance Department, as well as prepare and introduce the materials to the Trade Compliance team for further operational/transactional execution.
- Preparing Technical Assistance Agreements (“TAA”) and supporting TAA compliance from the project’s/agreement’s cradle to grave.
- Participate in various Continuous Improvement initiatives (internal and cross-functional) to support other business functions with actions that include but not limited to:
- Developing processes to improve operational efficiencies.
- Preparing all company letters, letters of explanation, policies, and other types of communication when required by the business.
- Research new and /or more complex regulations and requirements to support the Trade Compliance team and the rest of the business functions. It may include but not limited to:
- Submitting CCATS, CJs, and Advisory Opinions.
- Assisting with VSD compliance if/when necessary.
- Prepare and/or assist with preparing complex licenses.
- Support Trade Compliance and Logistics team with certain day-to-day tasks when required.
Requirements:
1. Strong knowledge of U.S. Export regulations. Good knowledge of U.S. Import regulations.
2. Positive attitude and attention to detail.
3. Ability to learn, educate, and create.
4. Great work ethic and self-discipline.
5. 4 + years of experience in operational export controls compliance.
6. Experience with export/import licenses and agreements.
7. Must be highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
